Billings: Freelancing Made Simple

Billings_1Are you a freelancer? Or do you just need some organization for your business? Billings is the perfect app for you. With Billings, you can track your time, send invoices, see overdue payments, and track how much you’ve collected, all while remaining clean and professional.

There are two main parts to Billings: your Projects and your Account. In the Projects section of Billings (pictured below), you can track all of your clients, track your time spent working on a project, bill your clients via email, and even track down your clients with Google Maps in the event of late payments. The interface of Billings is extremely powerful while remaining simple -

Here we can see a few more things within this section. We can see our categories on the left to sort our clients, I have made two dummy categories – Web Design and Web Development. I have imported a client from my Address Book and I can view all the projects for that client in the main window. Down below the project list, you can see the two types of “Slips” we have: Estimate Slips and Working Slips. Estimate Slips are for exactly what they sound like – Estimates! Working Slips are for when you are actually doing work, and want to track your time to be billed to the client. For my purposes, I name them the date just to keep track of what I did on each day.

Let’s look at the other main attraction in Billings – the Account section.

Here we can see all of the Invoices and Payments for John Doe, and see that on the right Billings creates Receipts for payments and shows that Invoices have been paid. You can also choose to Send a Statement to your Client of their unpaid balances if you wish.

This app is priced at a reasonable $39.99, which I think is completely repaid in the time you’ll save yourself by using this app. There are so many features of Billings that can’t be covered in this short post, so I would recommend you head over to their website and watch the introduction video, or download the free trial to start billing like a pro.
