Google Notifier: An easy way to see if “You’ve got mail!”

Google NotifierI don’t know about you, but I find that having to constantly click between my email page, and the page I’m currently viewing just to see if there is any new email, can be very time consuming and tedious. Wouldn’t you love if something just popped up on the screen to tell you there is new email in your Google account. Fortunately there is! The application that allows you to do all this Google Notifier.

One of the things I love about Microsoft Outlook for Windows, is the notifier pop-ups. I use this all the time in work and it’s really handy knowing that as soon as there is a new email in my work account, I’m instantly notified without  having to switch from what I’m doing. You can imagine how pleased I was when I came across this new Gmail notifier application for Mac and PC. I love the ability to see that little Gmail icon turn blue and a little number to show up just beside it. At least you know now that there is an email waiting for you and when you have the time, you just click on the icon and it instantly brings you to your Gmail home page. It’s magic!!

This application is extremely simple to setup. All you do is put in your email address and password; tell the application to check for new emails every minute or so and that’s it! there is no need to setup exchange servers, or POP addresses (which let’s be honest can sometimes be tricky to fully understand). When a new email comes in, a little box appears telling you “You have 1 new Email”.

Google Notifier instantly tells you when you've got mail!

In addition to seeing your emails, Google Notifier allows you to see your next calender appointments. Both icons are conveniently located at the top of the screen on the menu bar. Now when you want to check your email or appointments, simply click on the relevant icon and you can instantly bring up the calender page or your gmail inbox.

If you are a big user of Google mail and calender, then this is definitely the application for you. Rather than having specific tabs open for each item in your web-browser. It’s available as a free download from Google direct and is a must have!
