s-JAYS In-Earphones

sjays main pictureLike many tech savvy enthusiasts, I strive for good crisp sound with a strong bass and versatility. When it comes to earphones, I look for a product that can live up to the demand of everyday life, whether it be losing yourself in music at the gym, or writing that all important essay. Keeping that in mind, it must also live up to my desire for good quality audio and must have a certain finesse in it’s design and features. The s-JAYS earphones are a strong contender to live up to all of my specifications.

When you first receive this product, you are met with packaging that screams sophistication and quality and when delving in the box, you realize that JAYS have not skimmed on the accessories either. This particular product comes with two adapters for airline usage and to split the audio down two channels for support of multiple earphones or other audio monitors, allowing you to share one audio device between two without sacrificing an ear. For comfort, the earphones are packaged complete with additional sleeves, both rubber and foam, as well as a handy carry case to protect your earphones in transit from keys and other every day pocketed items. As with many earphones of thisjjays items type, they are shipped with replacement filters to protect soil-age in the audio canals and to maintain a constant high quality. Maintenance is promoted heavily throughout the package, including a handy card reminding the user of the basic steps to preserve the quality of the product for longer.

The ’scientific bit’ behind these earphones lies in it’s patented SIREN technology, which provides the user with a sound experience like no other. The SIREN technology works within a tubeless, round balanced armature which is essentially an unusual design for an earphone which gives amazing clarity and quality in the sound it produces. I personally have found the quality to far exceed any other earphones I have previously owned, with a rich bass and a openness that makes it sound more like speakers than earphones. The audio is not at all muffled and the bass is not too over bearing, yet the audio is not at all ‘tinny’. I would say the audio quality is perfectly balanced and JAYS ensure you enjoy this with it’s inbuilt ambient noise reduction technology, which eliminates 90% of all surrounding noise. In my day to day usage, I haven’t found an environment where the ambient reduction is ineffective and the sheer power of the earphones means I would be able to hear my music anyway just by turning it up.

The earphones are designed in such a way to allow the cable to be routed either traditionally at the side of the head, or additionally down the back for usage in the gym and other areas where the cable could cause an issue. This multiple option in orientation also improves the likelihood of a perfect fit with it’s users, as each ear shape is slightly different. Personally, I find the earphones extremely comfortable in the ear while the cable is routed traditionally, even at the gym. However, if the fit was not tight, the included 5 rubber sleeves or 1 pair of multi fit foam sleeves will have you rocking out in no time.

The only negative aspect of the design is the practically invisible mark to differentiate between the left and right channels, which lie on the crevice of the end of the piece and the cable.

The s-JAYS are available from various stockists, including their website, in both black and white with an RRP of £64.99. If you want an earphone that provides great sound, has a great design and that doesn’t skimp on the accessories, this is the product for you.
