VLC Media Player: Fast Compatibility

Well here on AppYourMac we have reviewed truck loads of music, video and general media playing applications. But we have neglected to review one of the most incredibly useful media player out there. Although, ironically, it is also one of the simplest. VideoLan Media player (VLC) is open source, free, application that allows you to play close to all media formats in existence and fast!

Other than the incredible compatibility with media VLC offers, it is also an incredibly simple application, which unlike other media players, doesn’t suck… up all your system processes in one go. Another plus is boot time, VLC is able to open incredibly fast in comparison to programs like iTunes, allowing you to quickly open files without having to take a coffee break wile iTunes decides to open and destroy your music play list with unnecessary files.

There is not much else to say about VLC, there are a tone of other features packed in which, with patience, can be explored to there fullest extent, although I find the main uses of the program are for quick launching media and playing media that is not compatible with most media players and it definitely does that better than almost all media players available today.
