Ubercaster: Podcast Sound Studio on your Mac

Ubercaster IconIn the iTunes store there are millions of podcasts, which are audio or video segments revolving around various topics, waiting to be instantly downloaded at the click of a button. Now, anybody with a microphone and active internet connection can record a podcast, however the more professional sounding the podcast, the more successful it will become. After digging, I found this fantastic application called, Ubercaster.

Some of the features of Ubercaster are you can fully customize your workspace inside the program. So you can have all your sound effects on one side of the interface, and all of your microphones and online media on another side.

More features of the application are that it allows you pull live audio from programs like iChat or Skype so you will be able to conduct interviews with other people and record them for the show.  All you have to do it setup the audio with Skype or iChat inside the program, and when you click record it will record your voice as well as the people on the VOIP program.

It also allows you to capture live audio files as you go so you don’t have to spend hours editing them in later. So all you will have to do is, import your media before your begin your podcast. Then as you are recording just hover your cursor over the imported media and it will record it live into the main track.

While you are recording your podcast, you will most likely be clicking around with your mouse looking at the articles or notes your talking about. A big problem with that is your microphone picking up the sounds of your mouse clicking. Ubercaster has once again gone ahead and solved this problem with a feature called Stealth mode. In stealth mode you will be able to tune down common sounds like your mouse clicking or keyboard typing.

Ubercaster also allows you after the show, to include the artists, podcast artwork, descriptions, show notes and all the other show goodies, into the iTunes ID3 tags so when your listeners or viewers download the podcast, they can read all the information about the show, and you won’t have to add any of that later. When everything is done on your podcast, Ubercaster sports a one click ‘release’ button which writes the encodes the podcasts and shoots them out to the web.

So keeping in mind when your starting a podcast, before listeners look at the quality of content they look at the quality of production. If they can’t hear what you are saying what good is the podcast to them?

I think Ubercaster offers a professional podcasting studio right on your screen and would highly recommend it. Ubercaster is currently retailed for $79.95 and for an application that offers so much productivity, the price really could not be cheaper.
