Senuti: Backup your music direct from your ipod

Picture the scenario; you’re laptop has crashed and the hard disk has failed. All your precious collection of music is gone. But then you remembered that you have everything on the ipod. But for some strange reason; you don’t have access to the content on it. How are you going to restore all your music? This is a total nightmare situation that fortunately can be solved with the great application Senuti.

Senuti, which is conveniently spelled as iTunes backwards (and I’m sure there is some sort of irony to this!) is an application,  that is used to extract music from your ipod while it is in disk-mode . It’s a very simple application to use that instantly copies all the songs on the database to a new folder on the mac.

One of the great things about this application is that you have the choice on what you want to copy from your ipod. You may have a large amount of music on your device that is not needed anymore. Well using Senuti, to restore your itunes library, means that you don’t have to copy across the music that you don’t like anymore. You have full control of your music.

One of the reasons people are turned off from buying iPods, is the lack of sharing ability. I’ve had situations myself where I would love to be able to copy music to a friends computer but as you may or may not know, Apple has built in a strict copyright feature that means that your iPod is restricted to use with only one computer. Senuti. when installed on a friends Mac, allows them to copy across songs directly from your iPod to their computer. It’s a simple one-touch process.

The interface on this application is relatively simple. Over on the right-hand side you have all the play lists and beside that there is the list of songs in that particular playlist. There is a search feature built into the application to find your requested songs without having to scroll down a long list.

Overall Senuti is a worth while application if you have the needs for it. This application can be purchased from Senuti’s website for only $18 and in my opinion is well worth the price.
