Minitube: Mini Video Player with Big Results
A while back, I did a review on Miro, a video playback application which allows you to stream video content from the Internetstraight onto your computer. Perhaps some of you readers aren’t looking for a sophisticated video playback application, rather, a simple and sleek video search engine. Stop pouting because Minitube is the application you’ve been looking for. Minitube allows you to search for videos in a breeze without any complications in between.
Minitube is, as stated earlier, a simple video playback application. In all of the video playback software that I’ve dealt with, this application is simplest, period. All you have to do is simply type
the term that you want in the search bar. This search, which is powered by YouTube, will display results. Once the results finish loading, you can begin watching a constant stream of video results directly from this application.
There isn’t much to describe about Minitube other than the fact that the user can browse through video results easily. Its play/pause, stop, and skip buttons are big enough for a blind person to see. While you watch your video, you can skip through different parts of the video and you can even view it on a full screen. The unique thing about Minitube is that once a video finishes playing, it will automatically play the next video. You don’t have to worry about double-clicking the next video to play. Another feature of Minitube that I liked was that you can watch the video on your web browser from YouTube’s website rather than Minitube’s video player. By having this feature, it allows people to rate a video and even read comments about the video that they are watching.
My only criticism of Minitube is that you can only search for video content via YouTube. I wish it could allow users to view other video content. For example, imagine watching videos from Hulu
with Minitube. This is not likely, given that Hulu Desktop allows people to watch videos from Hulu onto their computer. Nevertheless, providing more websites to search for videos will likely increase the number of people using this product.
Overall, Minitube is a very enjoyable application. Besides the fact that you can view videos effortlessly, the quality of the videos range from moderate to very good. Sound quality is pretty good as well. Minitube is free to download; however, the developers accept PayPal donations. Therefore, if you’re looking for a video playback application that allows users to view videos easily without any hassle, Minitube is the application you need.
