10 Free Mac Applications worth having
Who doesn’t love free mac apps? I asked myself this and decided to share with you ten of the most useful freeware mac applications that I have used so far on my mac. There are many others worth having, but the ten listed below where my own personal pick! I use most of these applications on a regular basis or when ever they are needed. But you should really try them out yourself!
Please remember that this is in no particular order and we are not judging or insulting any of the applications listed below. The main purpose of this post is for us to spread the word of these free mac applications for you to use!
AppFresh
AppFresh helps you to keep all applications, widgets, preference panes and application plugins installed on your Mac up to date. All from one place, easy to use and fully integrated into Mac OS X.

Celtx
Celtx is the world’s first all-in-one media pre-production software. It has everything you need to take your story from concept to production. Celtx replaces ‘paper, pen & binder’ pre-production with a digital approach that’s more complete.
HandBrake
HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatorm, multithreaded video transcoder, availble for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows.
Caffeine
Caffeine is a tiny program that puts an icon in the right side of your menu bar. Click it to prevent your Mac from automatically going to sleep, dimming the screen or starting screen savers.
Evernote
Evernote allows you to easily capture information in any environment using whatever device or platform you find most convenient, and makes this information accessible and searchable at any time, from anywhere.
iClockr
iClockr is focused to show you a simple way to track your time. iClockr is based on three columns, which consist of Projects, Tasks and Durations. iClockr is the ideal application for if you want to track your time spent on your mac.
Spotify
Spotify is a music service that gives users access to a huge library of music, through a lightweight application that looks like a mashup of the best parts of iTunes and Last.fm.
MacLoc
MacLocis the perfect solution for a busy work environment as well as at home where wandering hands can create a bothersome reduction in productivity. This simple application activates the Fast User Switching feature built-in to Mac OS X.
CamTwist
CamTwist is a software package that lets you add special effects to your video chats. It’s also possible to stream your desktop and still images. With CamTwist, you can also use multiple video chat programs at the same time.
Adium
Adium is a free instant messaging application for Mac OS X that can connect to AIM, MSN, Jabber, Yahoo, and more. It allows you to run all the Instant messaging services at the same time.
All of the applications listed above were currently freeware applications on the date of this post. They have not been picked in any order and were just some applications that I use on a regular basis. Great list, i’d also add Cameras from http://www.flexibits.com/
This is a handy app that you tell which cameras you use with which image editors. So you can tell it when you attach your iPhone that you don’t want to open any image editor.
Is really useful.
Great applications, i’d add JDownloader to the list.
JDownloader is a very useful application for batch downloading from file hosting websites such as MediaFire, Rapidshare, Megaupload etc. And it works seamlessly with the websites and even waits out the time limits. Its a great application go check it out: http://www.jdownloader.net/
Mine is probably Sapiens application launcher
