Pear Note: Note Taking Redefined

Pear note iconMany people make notes whilst they are on their computer. Whether they are in a meeting, in a lecture, or just making notes about something that interests them; they need good software in order to make efficient, well structured notes which are coherent and will be understandable at a later stage. Pear Note; a note taking utility made by useful fruit software covers all of the basic features just mentioned, as well as several extra features which help it to stand out from the crowd.

At it’s core, Pear Note contains a great, simple to navigate user interface for creating notes. However, there are often times when one looks back after making their notes and realises that they have missed out a key detail. To combat this, Pear Note comes with the ability to add various types of media to your notes. These being; the use of audio and video, as well as Powerpoint, Keynote and PDF slides. These fill in the gaps that you may have missed in your text-only notes. This is where the application could be particularly useful for students; the varying types of media could help with the retention of large amounts of information.

Many people may also find that when going through their notes again, they seem unclear. To help deal with this problem Pear Note comes with the ability to record video, audio, as well as your keystrokes simultaneously; and store them on it’s own time line. When playing back the audio or video, it will highlight the letters that you typed at the correct times throughout the recording. Users can also click on the letters to get to the part of the audio or video ten seconds before that letter was typed. This helps to deal with the situation where a user would want to know an extra detail from their audio or video recording; without having to waste valuable time trawling through several minutes of footage.

Pear Note currently retails at $39.99; a price that anyone who takes notes on a regular basis will have no problem in paying. Pear Note brings fantastic new ways to make notes, and even better ways of going through your notes afterwards. It saves users valuable time, yet there is no compromise in the quality of the notes, quite the opposite in fact. In addition to finding myself spending less time taking notes, I have found my notes to be significantly more in depth. It is for this reason that I recommend Pear Note to anyone who often makes notes; it truly is an invaluable tool.

Good stuff Luke, but I could never see someone like myself using an application like this. I really just would not need it?
