iLick: The cleaning app you’ve always wanted

Have you ever complained that your iPhone screen was becoming dirty? Have you ever wanted a cute dog to carry around in your pocket? Then iLick can solve both of these problems for you, providing a cute canine cleaning companion to scourge your iPhone from the inside out. Is this app ridiculously pointless, or is it worth the plunge?

So how does an app like this work? Upon launch, the app brings you to a simple selection screen. The app gives you a choice of two dogs that can lick your screen clean; Montana the Chihuahua and Apollo, the ‘Diggnation Dog’. Apollo gets a ‘bonus feature’; you can feed him a bone.

Tapping the dog of your choice will commence the playing of a short clip of it licking the screen. That’s it. You can leave the clip at any time by tapping at any time and selecting, return to menu. The mechanics are simple. and gets you to the sight gag quickly. However, the app is very light on content, and can become boring very quickly.

So what do I think of iLick? I find it an app that is entertaining only a few times, but no more. It is a great app for socializing or showing off your iPhone, but not much more. At $0.99, the price for so little is hard to swallow. However, if you need an app for showing off or social engineering, give this a look.
