Snapflow: Turn your Videos into Pictures

snapFlow iconWith the growth in popularity and quality of video cameras, many people often find themselves recording large amounts of video footage, and consequently they take less photographs. Unfortunately, videos are not quite as easy to share as photographs. Fortunately, Snapflow – made by Aquafadas – rids you of this problem. It allows users to select frames from a video, and turn them into images.

Snapflow is amazingly easy to use, you simply just navigate through videos, and then select the frame that you wish to turn into an image. The image. Once you have your image(s), there is plenty more that you can do. Snapflow allows you to add image enhancement filters, or create a document for publishing (such as a DVD cover), using your images. These features are implemented well; they are easy to use and produce stunning results.

The purpose of Snapflow is very straightforward. Despite this, it has several other features which make the application an altogether more interesting prospect. Take for instance, the ‘Workflow’. The workflow remembers where a frame that you have taken the image from is positioned within the video. If you have taken an image from the video, you can go to where that specific frame is and resume playback or take a look at the nearby frames. This helps to ensure that you get exactly the image you want each time you use the application.

Overall, Snapflow is a good application. It does exactly what it promises, and also has a few extra, very useful features. It does suffer from the odd problem, such as the length of time it takes to generate movie thumbnails. However, most of these problems (including the one just mentioned), are fairly easy to deal with. Snapflow currently retails at £89. Although this price may seem steep to some, it will definitely be value for money to those who record high volumes of footage, but would like to have more photographs. If you fit this category, you should definitely purchase Snapflow.

It looks like a very interesting and well put together application. When I get my Mac I will most likely get this. Great post!
