Tap Tap Revenge + Coldplay = FUN

Tap Tap Coldplay Icon The company Tapulous became popular when their product “Tap Tap Revenge” was featured on the ads for the iPod Touch 2G.  Since then, it became one of the most downloaded apps and Tapulous has released different themed applications to meet demand.  One of these applications is Tap Tap Revenge: Coldplay Edition.  Although I am a Coldplay fan and I might sound biased toward the product, I must say that this application flat out rocks.

To begin, browsing through this product couldn’t have been easier.  You have the option of playing Tap Tap Revenge Coldplay 1with one player or with two players.  From there, you can choose the difficulty of your song.  Difficulties range from “kids” to “extreme.”  Once you select the difficulty of your song, you have the ability to choose which song you want to play.  Depending on the difficulty, certain songs might not be available.  For instance, “Clocks” is featured in all the difficulties except “extreme,” whereas “Lost!” only appears in “hard” and “extreme.”  Once you select the song you want to play, the directions are simple.  Simply tap when a note approaches your target to earn points.  If a note has a long, fiery end, you must hold down the note to earn maximum points.  If an arrow approaches your target point, simply shake your iPod in the direction of the arrow.  The arrow option is something you can turn off by going to the Options section of the game.   Basically, if you’ve played Guitar Hero, you won’t have trouble playing this game because the controls are very similar.  The only difference is that if you mess up several times, or you don’t play notes for an extensive period of time, the song will keep playing to the very end.  Also, as you play a song on Tap Tap Revenge: Coldplay Edition, you can increase your points if you play a select number of notes consecutively.  At the end of the game, you’ll see your stats and if your score is high enough, you can publish it to the leaderboard and see how you compare with other players worldwide.

Tap Tap Revenge Coldplay 2

There are two things to point out about this application, one of which is the variety of songs that you can choose from.  If you are a true Coldplay fan, you’ll find some of the greatest Coldplay songs featured in this application, including songs like “Viva la Vida,” “Lost!”, “Shiver,” and even “Life in Technicolor II” which is featured in the Prospekt’s March album.  However, what really blew me away with this application was the background while you play the game.  While you’re tapping away to “Viva la Vida” or any other song for that matter, you’ll look at a spectrum of colors in the background with pictures of the entire band looping in sync with the song.  It’s quite breathtaking.

Overall, if I had to rate this application on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being excellent, I’d give it a 20.  It can easily kill one’s boredom and perhaps make the person addicted to the game.  You can purchase Tap Tap Revenge: Coldplay Edition via the iTunes Store or the App Store on your iPhone or iPod touch for $5.99.  And believe me, it’s worth every cent.  So what are you waiting?  Go ahead and be the next Chris Martin wanna-be!
