Img2icns: Change image formats with ease

Do you often find yourself having to open up an image editing program just because you want to change a certain image into a Icns image or a favicon image? What if you are just trying to make your folders look better by using a new image instead of the default one? Look no further because Img2icns has got everything you need. Img2icns is an incredibly simple and easy application to use; for what it does, its price could not be any cheaper.

Img2icns is an easy-to-use application, which also offers a impressive interface. How does this application work?  When you open the application, you are greeted by a small window saying “Drop images here”. But also in the bottom left corner there is a small button shaped like a clock. This offers you to use your previously used images with it. In other words, there is history tool embedded in this application.

So once you pick an image to use with this application, you have reached the next step. Select the output format you want to use on the image. You can make a folder icon using that image you selected. You can export it as Icns, which is the image format that the icons for all Mac applications use. For example, suppose you want to change one of your applications icons, all you would have to do is export it from Img2icns and then replace it in the route files of that application. You can also export it as an iPhone app size icon, which means if you use it on your iPhone or iPod Touch, it will be the perfect size for one of the applications.

Another useful thing about this application is that you can change any of your applications images by going into the route directory.  Or if you were an iPhone or Mac application developer this would help a lot. The last exporting format selection is to a favicon.  A favicon is the browser’s small image next to the URL, a favicon really does make any site look more professional.

Img2icns is a very useful application, but it is limited to what image formats you are able export in. For feedback I would say this: the developers of this application should add more image exporting options once they release their next version. Img2icns is recommended for anyone who needs its tasks such as image format changing in seconds or if you want to customize your mac’s appearance this will come in handy.

Img2icns has two versions, Standard and Pro. The difference is in the standard edition you do not get the features such as Icons History, Export iPhone Icons, Export Favicons, Convert icons to images and to Export .icns. These are all very useful and needed features so we recommend buying the Pro version. Img2icns is retailed at a low $12.90 and is worth the cash!
