DaisyDisk: Visualize your Files

Sometimes, managing and organizing your data can be a real challenge and pain in the neck. With files getting larger and programs more complex, it is becoming increasingly difficult to sort through all of you files and delete unneeded files. DaisyDisk tries to make disk management a snap with a unique user interface and easy to use tools. This app is perfect for simple file management.

DaisyDisk is simple from your first launch. The app asks you which local disk (or folder) you would like to scan. There are no complicated mounting procedures, confusing messages, or long waits. It even works with external drives and your Bootcamp partition (deleting will require other plugins)! Everything is quick and efficient.

After loading your content, the app immediately displays a simple pie chart with color coded categories and folders. Hovering over a category will give details in the sidebar such as, largest folders, size, and location. Clicking will “enter” the category and create a chart for those folders. This feature makes it simple for you to dig deep into your drive’s contents and find the offending files. Right clicking will give options such as, locate in Finder. The interface is simplistic, colorful, powerful, and best of all, intuitive.
