Evernote: The simplest way to take notes

evernote-_-logoThese days, everyone is so busy that they lose track what tasks they need to perform on a day-to-day basis.  Of course, if you are the kind of person who loses track of what you have to do, there are applications to download that allow you to create a basic and simple to-do list.  However, none of them compare to Evernote.  Evernote is a very useful and wonderful tool to use when it comes to remembering or organizing notes for yourself.

Evernote contains a plethora of features that make this application quite appealling.  First, the main screen on Evernote is laid out very simply and navigating through the program is very easy.  From the homepage, you can add new notes and organize old notes.  Another fantastic feature is the iSight note feature.  Using your iSight camera, you can take a picture of anything you want, as long as it serves as a reminder to you about something.  For example, you can take a picture of your dog’s leash reminding you that you have to walk your dog.

What I also liked about Evernote is that at the top right part of the screen, there’s an Evernote logo which allows you to add a new note, paste a new note, find a note in Evernote, or take a screenshot and post it as a note.

Evernote Taskbar

This leads to another great feature of Evernote, which is that you can take a screenshot and save it as a note.  You can choose to take a selected portion of your screen as your screenshot or you can take a screenshot of your whole screen.  Once you snap a screenshot, the image is sent directly to Evernote, where you can title your recent shot whatever way you want.

Evernote also allows you bookmark websites and save them as notes.  I think this is handy because you save yourself the time and effort from printing a website and instead, you can save it directly in the program.  Evernote also has the ability to search within your snapshot or bookmarked website, which makes it convenient so that you don’t have a hard time looking for what you need.

Finally, what I enjoyed about this application is that it is completely mobile.  Although you have Evernote downloaded on your Mac, there is software available for the iPhone and Windows Mobile OS phones which allow you to take pictures and save them as notes.  However, to make sure that both your phone and your computer are synced with the same notes, you need to create an account with Evernote.

Evernote is a great product that has a lot to offer.  Beside the fact that this application is free, it didn’t take long to learn how to use each function.  It certainly is one of the best task organizers available and it’s worth trying.

Don’t forget about the greatest feature: storing files. Specifically PDFs, and being able to view them anywhere. Damn it, I love Evernote
