TweetDeck: The Twitter ProTool

Tweet Deck IconHaving problems managing your Twitter account? Well, TweetDeck is a great application for managing your tweets right from your desktop. TweetDeck is considered the “pro tool” for Twitter users who are following and being followed by a lot of people, and who need more options then offered by other Twitter desktop clients.

One of the best things about TweetDeck is it organizes your tweets into columns. In one column you have the Tweets of the people you follow, in another column you have @replies from people who follow you, but that you do not follow, and you can also dedicate a column to a group of personally selected people. You can add addition columns that contain twitter searches for keywords, favorites,  and direct messages. TweetDeck has many additional powerful features including: Twitscoop, 12Seconds and Stock Twits.

One of the few downsides of Tweetdeck (as with other Twitter applications) is the Twitter API which restricts applications from hitting Twitter too much. The only other other major downside with TweetDeck, because it runs on Adobe Air, is that it can be a memory hog. Can you really blame TweetDeck for using up memory when it is so robust with powerful features?

So in one column you have the Tweets of the people you follow, in another column you have @replies to you for follow you do not follow and you can also dedicate a column to a group of personally selected people. So if a random person @reply you and you do not follow them, it will show up in the @replies column.

I like the functionality of TweetDeck, but it takes up way too much screen real estate.
