AppZapper: The Uninstaller Apple Forgot

AppZapper IconDo you ever want to remove Applications from your Mac, and by doing this you think I’ll just drag it into the trash. Well that’s wrong! There is still a huge chance that there will be some root files on your mac after emptying the trash. If you need to properly uninstall a application, well AppZapper is what you need. AppZapper is considered the Uninstaller that Apple Forgot. It really is a needed Application on your Mac.

AppZapper is a very simple Application to use, its simply a task of dragging any application into it. So when you open up AppZapper you have a window, in the middle saying “Drag Apps Here” and that really is all you have to do, its very self explanatory. It also has a Genie Jar Icon button at the bottom left located next to a Lightning Bolt Icon Button. When you hit the Lightning Bolt Button at the bottom left it even allows you to uninstall things from the Preference Panes and it also gives you the option to enable plugins on the App itself. When you press on the Gennie Jar Button, it lists all the Mac Applications on your Mac. So if there were a number of Apps you needed to Uninstall this would make life easier.

AppZapper Start Up

So once you drag and drop an application in, you will see that it chases out all the related files that would be located in impossible places to find on your Mac. It finds them and then calculates the amount that they all take up and puts them in a list like you can see in the below picture. Once you click on the main big button “Zap” it will delete all those files to the trash while doing a very fast blank screen effect. Like the way PhotoBooth does when you are taking a picture. Also when you do press on the Zap button it does make a cool Zap sound which should be expected.

AppZapper in Action

AppZapper is a very useful application that is needed on every mac. Not only will it save you more space on your hard drive but be aware that when you drag applications to the trash directly without going through this method there could still be some related files on your mac. Which means if you ever want to install those applications again you might be unable to do that due to errors because of not uninstalling the correct way. AppZapper is a Mac Application deffinetely worth checking out and the company also have a great site that offers great deals on Mac apps daily which is called MacZot.
