Watch Live Streams with StreamDesk

ScreenFlow IconDo you watch Live Video, Web Casts or Live Streams? Using services such as Ustream.tv. Ustream.tv is most commonly used Live Streaming Service and is from my point of view, the more superior one. If you’ve ever wanted to watch streaming video right on your desktop, and organize all your favorite streams in a single bucket, it’s worth checking out StreamDesk.

This cross-platform desktop application allows you to play video streams in a small cut out browser. It also features many other extras such as bookmarking into a favorites list, and each has its own button that takes you right to its source page. StreamDesk also makes it easy to find Live Streams that are going on in real time. The only problems I found with StreamDesk was that it occasionally goes out of sync with the Live Stream, so in other words it stops, but no need to worry because there’s a refresh button. There’s currently no way to add your own shows via URL, however the catalog is updated frequently and you can make suggestions for new streams by e-mailing the developer. Also on StreamDesk, what is need is an option to have the Integrated Chat Room with it. It really would be useful instead of having to open up a separate IRC Client to take part in the Chat Room.

StreamDesk in Action

This is an application definitely needed if you are using an IRC Chat Client to talk in the chat room while watching a Live Stream. And also, this is another great freeware Application available to Mac and Windows. The System Requirement for Mac are, Mac OS X 10.4.x or newer Flash player 10 or newer installed in Safari.

Wow very cool program. Now no more having 5 safari windows open on your computer. Even including multiple sources for the streams.
